“Jen has been the spark and fuel for our Soil Health Initiative”

-Rowan Steele, East Multnomah Soil Health and Water Conservation District

“Portland Fruit Tree Project has been privileged to work with Jen since 2020 in a variety of capacities, most recently in multi-year restoration of the soil in the community orchards we tend. During that time, Jen has been an incredible educator and thought partner. She has been so patient in her approach as we are on a steep learning curve, and brilliant in her recommendations and guidance. The orchards, in just a single year, started producing more and better fruit.”

-Heather Keisler Fornes
 Executive Director

“ Jen has been our farm advisor for three years, and in our time working with her we've learned and benefitted so much from her wisdom about soil health. Jen combines her knowledge of soil ecology with her experience operating a farm business to provide guidance that is both transformative for our soil and practical for our business. Her positivity, care, and compassion is reflected in the thoughtful way she provides advice. We have seen reduced weed and pest pressure since implementing soil health practices on the advice of Jen. We are so grateful that we've had the opportunity to work with her”

Jen, thank you so much for your presentation to our group of beginning farmers earlier this month. You did a fantastic job, and covered all of the basis that we had previously discussed in our planning calls The class you delivered was comprehensive and engaging. Let's do this again, next year!

-Oregon Farm Corps

“I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Jen for the last few years on a major soil health undertaking that has changed the way we farm and manage land. Through Jen’s expertise and rigor, we’ve taken a deep dive into how our soil is—and isn’t—functioning and came up with a soil health program that balances micronutrients, increases soil biodiversity (especially fungi), and reduces tillage. Our management shifts have led to healthier crops, reduced weed and pest pressure, and higher yields. In addition, we are saving labor and fuel costs with less tractor passes. We couldn’t be happier with her support and guidance!”

Headwaters Farm Program Manager

“I watched your presentation with the symposium, and thought it was brilliant. You could write a book.”

-Andrew Milfford

Chief editor for Growing for Market Author of Greenhouse and Hoophouse Growwers Handbook and The No-Till Organic Farming Revolution

"Great symposium. One the best I've attended in a long time.

Jen Aron is a rock star for her knowledge and communication"

-2021 No Till Symposium Attendee

“We took on twenty acres that had been sitting fallow and neglected for years. What I've learned from her is that soil health isn't a number on a test result. It's getting your hands in the soil and actually looking at it and smelling it and feeling it. She's a farmer herself, so she gets it in a way that somebody who only reads reports never could.

When she started with us we found four earthworms per spade, and I'm already seeing them come back. It's night and day how our soil looks two years in compared to when we first started.”
